How can you be totally ready for terrorism?

Unless you have your people sitting at full alert 24x7x365, it is almost impossible....

And that truly wears on a units readiness and morale...

Btw, CNN is reporting that the DOD has not yet declared this a terrorist attack. It appears the Cole was in port for refueling and the ship that was alongside to transport their hoses and mooring lines experienced an explosion.

So they are saying this could have been an accident. But frankly for a ship to explode with kind of force, I'd be surprised. Ship's don't explode like that unless they are carrying explosives or very volatile chemicals/fuels...

And since the Arleigh Burke would utilize fuel oil for its turbine engines, I can't see how that could have exploded.

We'll have to wait and see...

Final note.... Palestinian radio has been shut down and the Israelis are declaring an emergency session of their knesset.. Arafat is reported to have declared "this is war"... And Barak is reported to not be taking Clinton's phone calls.

So here we go down that slippery slope....

It should prove to be a very interesting weekend.....
