How does one figure the "max-pain" on options?

definite spike in OEX volume yesterday (2x recent ave), translating into expected increase in OI... but overall OEX vol/OI has been so low compared to historical levels, there's not much historical comparisons to be made.

as for SPX, volume yest was very high, in the past 2 years, only about 5 other days where volume was +200K.
altho there are many, many more days where OI is much higher. there's probably not much correlation for SPX as SPX is used moreso for hedging than day-to-day trading.

[edit]

one other thing, QQQ volume ticked above 200K for the first time I can recall. OI above 1M. that's a "first" too I'm sure.

MAX point in many indexes and popular stocks is well above current levels.

Will not surprise me to see a 100 to 150 NAZ point rally.
