in order to avoid the headline "US war ship sinks rubber dinghy" they waited until it became "rubber dinghy sinks US warship".

imo the captain of the ship has made a mistake by allowing the dinghy to come so close to its target unchallenged. he should have known that you don't trust any unknown craft in Yemeni waters, no matter how unassuming.

this is not meant to detract from the fact that it was a sad event, since it cost lives.
