i agree. still no-one on WS calls this a bear market...which i find incredible. even though the market is oversold, if you look at the charts of major indices, from the SPX to the Value line indices, the picture couldn't be more worrisome technically.

the VL ari was an index that bullish hopes were pinned on when it made new highs...technically speaking, it broke above the upper boundary of a one year long rising wedge for about two weeks, then reversed sharply down back into the wedge, and now has plunged out of it. i can't imagine a more disconcerting technical event.

all that said, i still wouldn't be surprised to see a bounce in the short term...that's impossible to accurately predict right now, as we could get news leading to a relief rally any time. what's important though is the long term damage visible on the charts - no technician can possibly deny it!
