Dell going AMD would be sweet.. though unlikely as AMD has only the one fab, and little prospects of building in this enviorment.

I agree with you about Dell. It would be sweet (as much for AMD's image as their sales), but isn't likely in the near term.
As for fabs AMD has 2 full size modern fabs (not counting small fabs, and fabs with older equipment), FASL (Fujitsu AMD Flash partnership) has 2 with one more either under construction or due to start soon, but FASL fabs just build flash and the ouput has to be shared with Fujitsu.

Still it is a lot less then Intel. The 2nd CPU fab is not fully ramped. AMD has a lot of additiona capacity ready to come online in Q4 and Q1 2000.

AMD could aford to start building another fab next year if they think the market will support it. Of course thats a big question thats a big question. No one wants to spend billons on a fab and then have over capacity.
