they have a voucher school initiative in California and it is failing miserably.

One of the features of this illustrious program is that the parents get a $4K voucher for each child and if they don't use all the money *they get to pocket the difference* rofl!

I am actually proud of the voters for voting thumbs-down on this boondoggle

danjuan, a year ago a private organization offered partial scholarships to minority underprivileged parents, who wanted to help their kids, by giving them the economic incentive to send their children to a private school. I believe the amount was 1,500 per year, per child. The organization anticipated 30 or 40 thousand parents might take them up on the offer and apply for the scholarships. After all, they still would have to pay half the cost of private tuition.

The organization received over 1 MILLION minority applicants! Hundreds of thousands of parents had to be turned away.

Do you have any idea what it's costing our nation to have hundreds of thousands of uneducated kids running the streets?

Bush's plan of targeted vouchers is the RIGHT start! We need to empower parents TODAY, who want to help their children get out of lousy public schools.
