I worked in the middle east and southeast Asia for many years as a Foreign Service Reserve Officer. I think the information I received was valid. At any rate, my main concern is that we conduct foreign policy in a manner that will assure a level playing field for companies like QUALCOMM, which will depend increasingly on foreign markets. Our foreign policy objectives should be broader than merely assuring continuing access to raw materials like oil, and should cover the terms under which companies like QUALCOMM can enter and do business in foreign countries.
