Not much more than a year ago Sanders promised he'd have a 1 GHz Athlon by the second half of 2000. And everyone thought that meant "December 31" ... if they're lucky!

Yeah... And two years ago AMD had trouble with 400MHz.

We're seeing this because Fab 30 is awesome. People questioned whether AMD could ramp a NEW processor on a NEW, COPPER process in a NEW country (for AMD) and AMD has done so this year with no hitches.

I'm still a little iffy about the deep price cuts, but we'll find out in a month how things are going.
