The finest post I have read in ages! Permission to repost with due credit? Regarding the wealth affect, I was amused (or rather pissed off) this am to here a Banc One "economist" soothing the fears of NPR listeners by extolling the virtues of a spendfree populous: something along the line of, "We need not be too worried by the market action, it is discounting one time events like the ford debacle, and besides the american consumer had a very robust september.All is well"
