Re: "they know that right now the server bread is all buttered on Intel's side. This will change with time"

Commrad Billski, They've had time and it hasn't changed. AMD had a multiprocessing chipset working in the lab in the summer of '99, or so they claimed. Now in a desperate move they did a behind the curtain show of a kludged 2-way Athlon system where they wouldn't even let anyone see inside the box, presumably because of all the blue wires, and who really knows if it really was a dual processor system in the first place? I type this on my dual processor Celeron system without a single bluewire. Where are the 4-way, 8-way, 16 and 32-way Athlon SMP demos? They can't do better then a behind the curtains 2-way sneak demo of what I've already had running on my desk for nearly 2 years? This is an absolute disgrace.

Sure - you said that last year - and where is AMD's SMP solution?

Bill Re:"just like all the others who have seen prices of desktop CPUs tumble, they want to see server CPU prices tumble"

Sun currently is the major player in the server arena. The server world will watch with joy as Intel systems lower prices.

AMD has no role in this contest. They can't even get a dual processor system to boot.
