Thank you for the great ride Russ. Carefully safeguard the rare Netrillionaire pin presented you by Roger, our distinguished laureate. We are sure you share our sorrow over the demise of Go2Net, but we know you will continue to shepherd its scion with the same care and devotion as you did the parent.

It is past midnight and time for morning prayer. I see a minyan* has gathered, so we may begin the mourners kaddish for our dear departed and beloved Go2net. All GNETers may rise and repeat after me:

Yisgadal, v'yiskadash shm'ei rabbaw...

jewfaq.org

*By special dispensation, ladies, yea, even shark ladies, may be counted and participate.

Russell:

I wish you had called off this merger with InfoSpace.

GNET has a proven track record of making money and InfoSpace has a proven track record of losing it.

While I believe that you have the best intentions to make this merger work, you may very well find that your company cultures are incompatible, and guess who will have the upper hand?

I do wish you the best of luck, and as a shareholder, I hope it works out.

Sincerely,

Doug Fowler

Dear Russell or if you don't mind if I call you dear Messiah,

After you unexpectedly spoke to us from cyberspace last evening a meeting of the Go2net longs was held to discuss its significance.....I have a report of some of the highlights of that meeting.

First folks were wondering if you might not have forgotten to proclaim some type of commandments for your followers?

A suggestion for you was developed and a resolution from Puna was offered to the floor "Thou shall not lose faith" his brother Roger 2nd the motion and without any fanfare the motion passed.

Then a long discussion was had on whether the Go2net longs might not deserve more than a mere thank you from you. I know this might be considered somewhat disrepectful you being the messiah and all but I am only reporting on what took place so don't punish the messenger. Sandintoes suggested that everyone should be given a new pair of shoes with your autograph.....Puna wanted you to promote his passion fruit juice on your web site so he might finish the go2net wing on his new house which he now has no money to finish since the stock price tanked. Crystal Ball wanted a seat on your Board of Directors. JZ wanted free membership to the House of Babes near his home town.
Carolyn wanted a luncheon with you alone. Sarkie Bug wanted a dinner with you alone. Susan G wanted a key to your apartment. LRNLATN was speechless after hearing susan's request and so was KLP. Sy the geezer wanted a year's supply of viagra. Homee wanted some insider information before your next big move. Ron Reece wanted to form a board of director for ICQ with him in charge. The O wanted cash for little O's college fund. Pareto wanted you to buy 10 sites.com and make him a VP (which I think personally is a good idea). Go2space 2nd that idea. Rampingup was sitting in the corner crying..no one knows why. "Truth" was running around naked at Black's beach in San Diego playing frizbee and was not available for comment. Plavermouth said he knew you were going to merge with infospace all the time but no one would listen...he wanted you to tell everyone to accept him for himself.....brk wanted your parking spot and finally Levy (thats me) said Damn we'll never be able to agree on any of this so how about an invitation to those great Go2net holiday parties we here so much about.....Roger Sherman 2nd the motion and everyone agreed

There was no further information I can report at this time.

Thanks for all your hard work and for making your dream real Russell, it's been a blast.

And just think, without go2net, I would have never "met" all the great friends I have found on this thread and all over SI.

Susan

still long : )

Russ,

Thanks for the memories!

It's been a wild ride. Perhaps a little too wild for some of us who have followed you from the earliest days of GNET. I don't know for sure if any of us "longs" ever truly became "Trillionaires"...but we sure had a lot of fun "hoping" to be, along the journey with you.

Many of us have come to respect and trust you as not only a person of the utmost integrity and sincerity, but also as a person of incredible vision, intelligence, and business management skills...not to mention the thrill of getting to occasionally see you (with your cute curly hair) on CNBC. We will miss you!

You're old statement, "Some of these guys could end up in the fetal position on the floor, sucking their thumbs," unfortunately may apply to more than just your dotBOMB competitors. In fact, I had just recently quit sucking my own thumb...however I haven't been able to post for several months, due to this darn "fetal position" infliction I developed this past year.

And then the news today...OH BOY!
Damn thumb popped right back in.

Good luck to you in whatever you choose to do
as your next adventure in this life!

Roger #49

PS. Why don't you just have your friend Paul buy controlling interest in this friggin company (everybody has a "price"), and then hire levy and Sarkie...who most definitely would straighten out the entire company's "culture conflict" thing in absolutely no time at all. In fact, faster then you could say AA (can I say that on SI?).<g>

Hey Russ, the problem with the boxlot/haggle domain is that
"Haggle" sucks as a name........

I'll sell Infospace my domain and slogan for the right price
bidofthis.com

"We always have a little BID of this and a little BID of that"

bidofthis.com very catchy...
"Haggle"..not catchy!

Cheers,
Url

P.S. bidofthis is hosted by hypermart
