No, releasing 5% of strategic supply was a great idea to give headstart on heating oil shortage. The only ones against it were the Bush campaign, who would have done the same thing themselves. Thr price went down $5 and it has stayed below $40 where it was headed. Now they need to release more of it. Little by little. There is no big enemy left in the Gulf so war will not break out, just the kind of thing that happened today.

I hear Gorbachev was in Alberta today. The SPR was designed for emergencies. Releasing anything from the SPR can create more problems than it can solve as it confirms a problem exists. There is no oil shortage just oil supply playing catch up. Doing so this last time proved that. The fuel released was apparently sold to Europe because there were no domestic takers.

This will get totally out of hand and we will see $50 oil in a heartbeat of we lose tankers. An oil tanker takes five years to build and there is a shortage right now.
