Dan,

<Gateway continues to sell high speed Athlon systems pre-configured with Windows 2000 and 3Com network cards. Those systems aren't going into the consumer market, they are quietly nibbling their way into the enterprise.>

These Gateway products you talk about are in the Small Biz line. And, there is no indication that Gateway is aggressively pushing them into corporate space (for example, I haven't come across any serious Gateway Athlon ads in any major business journal or magazine.)

<It's a real opportunity for Gateway to become a larger player in the corporate market - >

It is and has been for a while but it is clear that AMD has not been able to sell Gateway or any major OEM to do corporate systems so far. There was an excuse before KT133 but now with 200MHz lead and decent chipset there in no excuse.

<...and an equally large opportunity for Dell to bleed market share and bleed profits.>

Dell will most likely bleed in Q4 much more than the market expects. With AMD taking an aggressive path on ASPs, Dell's AMD-less system ASPs are going to be down and Dell's topline growth is likely to be quite anemic.
