I can see the logic of the abductors, or rather those in charge, choosing to wait. I don't know if it's true, but yeah, that seems possible. Regardless, it was not due to any of the the spanking new Reagan administration's negotiation efforts. It was announced as if it were a triumph of the new office. I feel that then former president Carter should have made the announcement of the release.
