ntel to Increase Investment in China

October 13, 2000 (BEIJING) -- Craig Barrett, CEO of Intel Corp., said that his company
plans to increase investment in China.

During a telephone interview, Barrett said, "China, with numerous attractions, is
increasingly important to Intel from an internal engineering and manufacturing
standpoint."

Although it will be his sixth time visiting China, Barrett said he still holds a strong
interest in the country, adding China is not only a producer of components and a
consumer of communication's computing technology, but it is always an exciting place
to visit.

He predicted China would surpass Japan as the second-largest computer consumer in
the world.

When he comes to China on a four-day visit, he will talk to Intel employees and some
consumers, give presentations and meet with some government officials.

As globalization continues, Intel will become more international in scope and try to
build on the 60 percent of the consumer market the company already has outside United
States, thus getting an upper hand on the fierce competition, said Barrett.

He added Intel is committed to helping China create a better environment for education,
involving scholarships and setting up research centers.
