That is a dang interesting question that I don't have the answer to. One thought is that much of the world is adopting the dollar as the de facto currency and all that entails.

I'm not conversant enough to figure it out exactly. I do know that places like Cuba, China, Central America, South America, and I could go on, look at the dollar as the the primo exchange mechanism. Unlike that trash gold. -g- The first time I was in China back in the mid 80s, I got mobbed to trade for dollars. Won't tell you about what they will do for Cuba's de facto currency. -g-

Just look around. The vast majority of the world would like to live with US dollars, for the time being. Thus the inclination of power is to keep it strong.
