This is the basic flaw in the new-economy stock world. These executives are privatizing the rewards, and socializing the risks.

And you have to wonder if an executive gives a rat's ass about whether or not his dot.com ever turns a profit as he counts his hundreds of millions of dollars in insider stock sales.

These people are getting the payoffs of a lifetime before they even BEGIN to run the companies!

Eventually, the public will catch on, and all faith in the securities markets will be destroyed for a generation. I think the upcoming mutual fund statements are going to make a lot of people VERY angry. redemptions will surely follow, once those same people realize the market isn't going to just go right back up.
