Stagflation often leads to mergers and takeovers. Funny the Taxaco-Chevron deal hit.....even though it makes a lot of sense from the point of view of the rise of crude prices.

The 1970s was a period of stagflation. I think that is when the word was coined. The entire decade was just no where as far as market growth was concerned so you could be absolutely correct about the future of stocks during such a period. On the other hand, I've been hearing that the small caps are doing well, and that often happens ahead of a positive turn.

I had surgery to remove my gall bladder. I think I'm okay at this point. My chest looks just like The Stigmata, however. I'm thinking about applying to Rome to have it pronounced as a Miracle.
