- when do you expect P4 in volume?
- and what is Intel going to sell against a AMD 850MHz-1.4 GHz volume lineup by then? With prices from $60 for 850 to $200 for 1.1 GHz? (Q1/01).

kash, <I recall that this has happened in the past and MHZ clearly won every time>

You're assuming that Intel will be able to exceed 1.5 GHz on 0.18 and I don't think that is possible. Based on the power dissipation numbers at IDF, the delays in the initial release including rumors of 1.3/1.4 instead of 1.4/1.5, 1.5 will be the limit for all of Q1. AMD should be able to match that.

Also, until Intel gets 0.13, they give up 3 P3's for every P4 they produce. (That's according to Lesley Gwinnap at MPF.) Maybe that number will drop to 2 with a shrink late Q1. If you were Intel, how much of your market share would you give up to have lots of the fastest chip?
