RE: That's going to really help ASPs for Q4......

There's nothing wrong with this if the speed offerings keep moving up. I would like to have seen official releases of the Tbird 1200s and Duron 800s at the same time as the price cuts. What if 1Ghz actually became the floor in Q4?

Frank
I suggest that you consider that amd had zero cancelation this quarter while intel got plenty of those due to weak demand.

Frank, you can buy a 1.2GHz Athlon for about $600 as well. It's just a normal MHZ (or shall I say GHz?) price shift. At least as long as the supplier can offer high speed parts in volume. That's what AMD had to learn in the past.

Regards, Boris

PS. It's the first opportunity to learn about AMD with superior products, isn't it? Give us a chance.

< Now Computer Super Sale is also advertising 1GHz at the new pricing - $281!

<That's going to really help ASPs for Q4. Nice to see the bragging about price cuts has already started. Some people never learn. >

f.simons, this price cut is very different from K6 days, those were cut to the bone under stress due to Intel Celeron price pressure, yesterday's cut (specific case of 1 GHz Athlon $281) is to eat Intel's lunch of P3-866 $321, 933-$430 and 1 GHz-$675, there ought to be nice demand there to cannibalize, please state your reasoning why this is not the case. TIA
