Kash, VIA changed their timetable? They originally were targeting Q4 of 2001, I think they want to wait for the P4 MarkII because of the pinout change and short lifespan of the P4 MarkI. Have you heard differently?

Re: Via et al will chipsets in late Q1.

And when has VIA ever been late with a chipset?

P4 with DDR/SDRAM is a safe bet / sure thing for Q1.

Kash,

I don't think Via will produce the chipset for the dead-end P4 with 423 pins. The new P4 (with 478 pins) will become available in 2H 2001, so P4 should be RDRAM only from introduction to Q2 2001.

Via et al will chipsets in late Q1.

For production volume at the end of Q1, the chipset needs to be sampling now or be very close to sampling.

With VIA (and others) we have seen a tendency to issue sampling state press releases. Have you seen any regarding the P4?

If the chipset samples at the end of Q1, don't expect volume production before Q3 at the earliest.

Additionally, the P4 is changing packages in aobut 6-9 months. How many (non-Intel) motherboards will be made for the first P4 itteration?
