Doug,

AMD's goal is to sell a lot more of the Athlon chips. Vast majority of them is 900 MHz plus, and the prices start at $190.

AMD sold only 2.1 million of these high ASP chips (up only 300,000 from Q2). Now, I believe the goal is to significantly increase this number - to 3.2 million and up. I think the absolute minimum improvement in Athlon shipments will be 1 million, which at prices of $180 is additional 180M. Even if everything else stays the same, this adds almost .50 to the earnings.

The Athlon CPUs are one area where AMD has good infrastructure KT133 based boards, and soon superior infrastructure with 760 chipset.

Don't you think it is a good idea to try to drive the demand to where your strengths are?

BTW, once AMD starts selling 760, we will see higher revenues from the chipset area. The chipsets will be probably $50. AMD may sell (I hope) 500,000 to 1,000,000. It's not huge, but it is a good addition to the top line.
