I didn't spend much time watching the level II data on AMD as other stocks were popping. But I could see that large sellers were still dumping the stock. The institutions pay big bucks for the advice of analysts and tend to form a "group think" about what is hot and what's not. Little guys like me can best figure this out by watching their actions through the MMs and block trading activity and either get out of their way or join them.

I think that there is a lot to like about AMD but the immediate future of the stock price depends on a small difference in how sales of higher ASP parts sell and how lame Intel's new Pentium IV turn out to be.

Intel has been pressed into the practice of "faking it instead of making it" in high-speed chips. Because of their huge girth, this company must continue to be respected. AMD has excellent parts and has executed very well on producing them. Perhaps so well that parts supply will exceed demand. This is a bit of an issue of "Glass half empty or glass half full". While AMD has captured significant market share from Intel, something analogous to JNPR's capture of fiber switch market share from Cisco, AMD is being treated like a beggar while JNPR is being touted as the next stock to bid to phantom multiples.
