Jim - RE: "1.1 Ghz Thunderbirds are $371 and in good quantity.

The cheapest Pentium III-1 Ghz is $675.

You can buy TWO 1.1 Ghz Thunderbirds for the price of one 1 Ghz Pentium III..."

You weren't that good at math back in the day, were you? ;)

How's this - you can buy TWO 1GHz Thunderbirds AND a motherboard for the price of a 1GHz PIII.

"a 1.3 Ghz thunderbird soon would help the pricing structure look better"

Have you heard anything about this coming out sooner than expected? The price cuts would make more sense with a faster processor...

Jim, <Looks like Jerry is goin' for market share big time.>

At this rate, AMD will be selling a pair of 1.5 GHz Athlons and a dual-processor motherboard for under $300 at launch.

Imagine if Intel were demand-constrained instead of supply-constrained. AMD would be giving away their 2-way SMP platforms for free at Costco (w/ a $400 rebate from MSN).

Jimbo - Re: "Looks like Jerry is goin' for market share big time.
...bin splits must be really good as AMD will fill the gap between P-III and P-4 in Mhz...
I can see why WS is shy of AMD...price wars freak 'em out..."

What does it tell you when AMD has a 200 MHz speed advantage over Intel and they have to do a DEEP DISCOUNT sale just to find customers for these?

Answer: Most people prefer Intel's product - pure and simple.
