bill, you beat me to that!!! VERY nice article sector. now, if you had this article in your hands, would you want to be short? i really like the fact they're doing a current South American system over the next few months....hmmmm with a mesh system, none the less! anyone feel like forwarding this article to gilder?!?!<G> also, they are currently field trialing 2.5Gbit/s systems which accomodate any protocol. somebody pinch me! ok, if this system works, i'd say we've got a monster going into the ipo. let's get those field trials into installs, and announce who they're doing the installs for in S. America! (as possible, with consideration to the SEC, of course...)

Nice teaser, Bill.

This article's data must be a few months old, perhaps July, and is just coming out now.

Other excerpts from that article:

"In all these products, the signal is totally transparent in the sense that it can accomodate any protocol - it can be Fast Ethernet, FDDI, anything."

"We reckon that a mesh network is the way to go. To do that will require SNMP and terminals that are no longer dumb, but have some intelligence. We have designed a system that we'll be putting into South America over the next few months ..."

"Then free-space optical communications represents one of the most powerful technology options becoming available in the telecom industry."

"Whatever you can do on a fiber, we can do in the air."

<<What are Jolt's priorities at the moment?>>
"I think the most important thing is to have our first [all-photonic] WDM product ready by August so that we can deliver to SEVERAL customers who are waiting for it.
"

So, if the article's information is a few months old, then some of the South American systems must already be in place, and the WDM too!
