To clarify what I thought was very specific: St. Albans costs a lot of money, but Andover costs even more. St. Albans alumni include elected officials and advisors of Republican, Democratic, and who knows what other political persuasion. Bush would be a better candidate if he had studied more, both in prep school, and especially at Yale. The fact that he didn't even go to graduate school is revealing in itself. As for Harvard Al, he did work harder at Harvard than Bush worked at Yale, which is probably why Al has a better command of the issues than dubya. Anyhow, it's not clear that any of this would determine who would be a better president. All I know is that in this part of the country (upstate NY), the Republicans are seen as not very friendly to the average income person on the key issues of social security, jobs, health care, and education. The Democrats put up a lot of lawn signs, particularly for Hillary, which were torn down almost as quickly as they appeared. The morale? Having failed on the issues, the Republicans have decided to remove all signs of opposition.
