opentv has 10 million set top boxes deployed and they don't even use the atvef standard...the more I read about this stuff the more complicated it gets...looks like they use a standard of their own which is java based (sun) and atvef which go2net is going with is supported by microsoft...it is by no means clear who the winner is going to be in my view although atvef seems to be in the lead in usa....if you care to know the details read under emerging standards bottom of this link
