Osco/Jewell does that too. Must be a bummer asking to see an ID that you are over 21 and then asking if you get the senior discount.

a very major geezer buzz

Became a teetotaler 13 years ago, so I'm pretty much
buzzless all the way around. During my drinkin' dayz,
my grocery store, Randall's, didn't sell alcohol, so
I would have to go next door to a liquor store. It
managed to limp along without me for about a year
and then folded.

A 60-year-old friend was recently carded at Houston's
Enron Field. Could be the same sort of blanket policy
as Kroger's.
