Most citizens are happy to pay a little more for a cleaner environment

Well, tell that to the average US worker who's just above poverty level, owns a late '70s jalopy with worn piston rings, who can't afford anything better because he can't afford to fix it when it breaks down due to all the electronic emission control stuff..

And tell that to them when they go and spend a higher proportion of their paychecks on filling up that jalopy with gas so they can go to their $7/hour construction job...

Yeah.... you're just like all the other eco-elitists...

Hike that fuel tax... raise those emission's standards.... make those cars more expensive to operate and repair.... Declare huge portions of wildnerness off limits to all of those who can't afford to fly in on a plane or helicopter...

Yeah.. and you guys say you're for the poor....

You just want to keep them sucking on the government teat so you can put the screws to them come voting time.
