Has anyone on this so-called GWB thread even bothered to seek out and read the biggest and most in-depth article on GWB the human being in last month's Vanity Fair? That was why I originally posted here. It was a staggering, even touching article it was so real. And so different that the political marketing machine image of the man. Do not vote for Bush until you read this article. You owe it to yourself and your country.

Good summary of the facts. Refer back to it when you get confused again.

>>>I guess only right-wing Republicans are "true Americans" huh? Vietnam was the right thing to do. The S+L debacle was good for "small government". And the environment ain't worth a hill of beans. Nixon was innocent. Bush was out of the loop on Irangate. Jim Baker and Jimmy Swaggart were good christians. Abortion is murder. Guns don't kill criminals do. The national deficit was caused by Democrats. Clinton and Gore are just slippery liars who did the country no good. Bush Sr. deserves credit for the last 8 years of peace and prosperity. It was smart to leave Saddam in power. The GOP is compassionate and cares about minority problems. Cheney's voting record is stellar. He was right to cash in after leaving office and only give 1% to charity. Gore said he invented the internet. GWB must have reported for duty in Alabama but just doesn't remember. Shrub never did coke. Never was a mean alcoholic. Didn't cash in his stock a month before his oil company reported huge losses and went belly-up. Hallary is a witch who doesn't care about people. They're all communists and socialists. The press is controlled by democrats and never gives Bush any breaks.

Oh come on - puleeeaaazze - spare me tonight - and forever.<<<

American Spirit, easy on these folks. Too much truth in one paragraph is a bit too much for them to take, don't you think? And what's even more amazing is all the things you left out. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to highlight 'em.

To the half dozen or so folks who previously who replied to some of my posts, I'll eventually reply to 'em. You see, like Bush's dad, I've been "out of the loop" for a bit. Except I didn't do anything involving arms for hostages--I simply got constrained timewise.

By the way, I think during the last debate Bush did a good job of memorizing some names of foreign leaders. Still, however, I don't think his crash course would be of much assistance for him, were he president, in the current perilous international climate. Fact is, he's been a name governor only and has absolutely no experience to deal with such matters.

Today is an absolutely gorgeous day in New England. I awoke at sunrise and drank my hazelnut coffee on a rock overlooking low tide mudflats. It was nice to see the glimmering path from the new morning sun stretching toward me over silken and and virtually waveless waters. Behind me high in the sky was still last night's full moon, which last night appeared as a giant jack-o-lantern in the sky.

Anyway, looking out at all this beauty a thought struck me. It used to be that pollution could frequently be seen on the horizon hovering over and toward the great city of Boston. And I thought: Today, it's not like that anymore around here. And then the thought struck me that it was all Republicans who continously voted against legislation to clean up our skies. And the sadder thought is: Not much has changed today, as they'd vote the same way.

I'm sorry folks, but the way I see it: The GOPwingers don't get it, never had and probably never will.

In answer to your first question, no. We are Americans regardless of political affiliation. Vietnam involvement started and excalated under a Democrat, LBJ. The S&L bailout was good for America. Millions of people would have lost their savings and been unable to obtain loans if they had all gone under. The environment is important and the exaggerated claims of it's demise are contradicted even in the scientific community. Nixon was ashamed of his actions and resigned, unlike the current criminal in chief. Swaggart and Baker are sinners just like you and I. Hey, we agree, abortion is murder and criminals pull the triggers on inanimate objects called guns. The national debt started while congress was under the control of democrats and has grown ever since, until just the past year, when the non social security debt actually decreased by a miniscule amount. Willy and gore are definitely liars who have left the country in a downward spiral morally. I think Reagan's economic policies were the base for current prosperity. Actually, as impotent as Saddam is, the region has stabilized with the exception of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict which willy and notallthatbright have pushed on one of our most reliable allies. It appears that the minorities need to work their own way out of the dependency trap they have fallen into as a result of the Democrat created welfare state. I don't know the details of why Cheney didn't vote. Over half of our voters don't vote, so what is the point? One percent of his cash-in probably constitutes more than gore has donated in his lifetime. The rest of your babble is all unsubstantiated drivel, and not even worthy of answering to.knc
