OEX actual volatility is now 22.75. VIX going to 8 would require some long-term basing and repair in the market. The VIX-Volatility relationship looks quite similar to the first low in October 1997. The next low in the market was actually higher (no guarantees here) two weeks later but the market made a series of trading lows till January at the end of the 9-month cycle.
