Steve, you are assuming that the fetus has rights and thus the question is one of "competing rights". All I am saying is that at least some religions have settled this question by unequivocally dictating the preservation of an existing life over that of a "potential life". If you accept the tenet that a fetus has rights (and thus you must assume, all rights granted by the constitution), then you and I should go into that "citizenship factory" business I described in an earlier post. (g).

Interesting article in todays paper written by Thomas Sowell. He points out most democrats are pro choice and also pro monopoly. In both cases, they show little concern for a child's welfare. They are all for aborting children. They are all against parents having options that would enable them to choose the best course of education for their child. He points out the culprits are the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. They, of course, have ultimate influence over the democratic politicians. They want a monopoly on teaching and dumbing down our children. They try to establish every possible roadblock in the way of school choice, home schooling, etc.. They are really an enemy of our opportunity to maximize the education of our children. Do you remember the national spelling bee? Of the approximately 250 children entered around 25% were children that were being home schooled. It was astounding that the winner and the 1st runner up were both home schooled children. Also, the winner had recently won a national geography contest. We need competition in order to maximize the education of our children. We do not need to protect featherbedding teachers unions.
