Not quite sure you're being fair here.

Well, I think it's fair to say that high gasoline taxes, as well as sales taxes, are the more regressive of all consumption oriented "revenue enhancers".

They certainly hit the poor worse than the middle class in proportion to percentage of income.

Btw Steve, do you have any desire to hitchhike/hike up to the north slope of Alaska? The only reason you can do so is because there is a road up there.

And if you've been to Idaho, then you already know that almost 1/3 of that state's territory is considered wilderness. FULLY 1/3 OF IT'S TERRITORY!!! Wilderness!!

And Idaho isn't a particularly small state.

In fact, the Federal Government owns more land out west than do the states themselves, especially in Nevada. And there is considerable logic to the argument that the Federal Government has no constitutional business owning so much land that lies within the borders of individual states.

But the writing is on the wall. This country needs the 10 Billion barrels of oil located up there in Alaska. Under full production, it could account for 2.2 million barrels per day of added production, for a total of some $300 Billion in potential economic benefit.

That's $300 billion that we won't have accruing to our global trade deficit.

Regards,

Ron
