I know a few firms have divisions where they simply monitor the boards all day long. . .

Knowing this, I have been designing our next home to discourage "loitering" and "eavesdropping" by brokerage houses and market makers.

<<On another note, I know a few firms have divisions where they simply monitor the boards all day long, so your theory
isn't far fetched at all. >>
if you want to hear something freaky along those lines--- i used to be a programmer and still have many contacts along those lines- anyhow- one dude i know (who works at largest private analytical software firm in u.s) was telling me of a client wanting this company to develope software that analyzed successful retail traders movements. in essence, wants to build software that would help 'predict' retail trader's behavior based on accumulation of data and then plugging in algorithms blah blah blah. my friend was telling me how difficult this project would be---- no kidding!!
i won't say any more- but dam*, i am not surprised at anything, anymore. the technology is there, stands to reason whoever can will use it to their advantage, if possible.
