For that matter, adultery and other matters resulted in the death penalty, so I am not sure judgement or compensation rendered an opinion on whether the fetus was "life". Weren't there distinctions between accidental deaths or carelessness resulting in death? If your ox ran loose and gored someone would you die for it? I'm trying to have this discussion between chores and am probably losing coherence. Too much noise in my head. Sorry. I am sure one could argue almost any side of an issue using various religious grounds. I imagine the Almighty is not disinterested in abortions and the reasons for them. To come at it from the other side, I don't see it as a cause for which we can claim high ethical ground, or celebrate. Along those lines women celebrate abortion as an exercise of their power. Again, that is a poor trade. I find arguments in defense of the act weak. Perhaps it is a right to chose which should be chosen against except in the most extreme circumstances. On the other hand, perhaps fetal matter is only just another form of matter so it is not an issue at all. In that case we are only flapping our gums. I don't think that is the case, though. There is something worth discussing here.
