I think you make a few very good points: thread bloat has become a problem( of which I think I contribute to because I feel my knowledge of the markets is as a newbie - why would somebody want to hear what I think when you have full-time traders here who show great knowledge?). In addition, lately we have seen signs of a free-for-all ( I bought xyz at 32, you all should buy it, of course it's gone up 5 points already)...but Rande has always called for the fewest posts possible. He has not encouraged people to give market direction calls. I also follow Gorillas and Kings...and have had my share of discouragement ( thread leaders giving up on QCOM, short-term trading, etc.). I don't think many traders have fared that well during this time. Things may be somewhat falling apart here because the market stinks. In my opinion, Rande makes the best general market calls and puts them out there for people to judge. I have gained so much ( not just money) from following his thoughts...I can't even explain how much this thread means to me ( of course, it does not even compare to my love for my family, my friends - please don't take this out of context...). It's very difficult to trust people these days and I can say that I trust Rande... I first caught on with Tim Luke's thread and really enjoyed the way things were going there...but he got popular and people made money off of his trades ( he made plenty of great calls) - you recognized that when he made a call, you wait for things to get knocked down, you then bought and watched how his prediction would generally come true ( sometime it took a while...) I think Sir REalist and Stan s have really good sites and generally they have been calling things pretty well, too. The danger is that this really could be a game...the little people against the Big Boys. I have seen it too many times - thread leaders make a lot of good calls, the thread gets more popular and the leaders calls start to backfire...There is too much of this to ignore... Anyway, I don't think anybody is going to convince a person to change their mind, here...but let's recognize that the tension lately relates to people losing money, to the markets being very difficult to gauge, to all of these things... We all could use a little psychological help for being involved in this market - and I could just hear the professionals now: "why would you try to trade stocks, only a professional can deal with these markets..." For what it's worth... AJ 2.
