Palm operating system should make it somewhat more competitive... well, at least for the present, anyway.

Good question Kyros. Sony and Compaq have huge marketing, production and distribution advantages. However, the greatest opportunity for an outsider to move in comes when a new niche is emerging. The Palm link should be a big advantage eventually. 3COMS should be able to distribute the product, but whether or not they can market effectively remains to be seen. I hope they move away from the "grose out" themes they used recently for marketing wireless networks.

O.T. By the way, National Semiconductor makes the single chip processor for the Audrey. Have you looked at NSM as an attractive tech. value play ? They look much like 3COM. Impressive financial turnaround, good balance sheet, new management, well positioned for wireless buildout, but still suffers from the Roger Dangerfield syndrome. Best of all, P/E in single digits.
