NY Stew, Seldom Blue and tinkershaw

You openly purchase the material from your e-tailer of choice (Gemstar or another) and then simply receive via the secure and always-on delivery system.

via a phone line I presume.

The typical non-technical consumer wants the simplest and most reliable way to get new publications or books onto their e-book. This is a key to the technology being adopted by the general public (aka, the masses). Simply plugging an e-book into any available phone line and allowing the pre-configured, dedicated modem to download the files from pre-configured, dedicated servers controlled by Gemstar is virtually idiot-proof. (I may be oversimplifying since I have not actually seen an e-book, yet.)
And in light of the recent Napster phenomenon, I think security and the preservation of intellectual property is probably the most important issue to authors and publishers.
For these two reasons I don't think Henry's plans are all that poorly derived.

OTOH, I agree with tinkershaw that the $299 price tag will be a limiting factor unless there is enough pain to make the price acceptable. At this point, I don't see where the (hopefully) excruciating pain will come from. And since I just finished reading "Crossing the Chasm", I would like to see Henry focus on a niche where the pain is greatest (textbooks, auto repair manuals, etc.) in order to earn a pragmatist recommendation.

I bought GMST several months ago based on its EPG and IPG technologies. While I didn't place much value on the e-book at that time, I have come to appreciate the immensity of its possibilities. I like the fact that Henry's approach appears to make it simple for the general public and protect the IPR of authors and publishers. It will take a broken or painful mission-critical process to whip it into a tornado however.

Thanks to all for your incredibly valuable and enlightening posts. I have personally learned a tremendous amount about investing and especially Gorilla Gaming since I discovered this thread in March.

Of course, this is all jmho, fwiw.
