We all watch the polls but we also all know they can change on a dime. I believe Bush has a slight lead now but Gore has only just begun to fight. He was hoping to remain positive and not get his hands dirty. But don't under-estimate Gore. When he lost the Tennessee election years ago he learned some lessons about needing to fight dirty if your opponent is. Bush has been stealthy about his negative campaign but it's been in place for weeks subtlely undermining the public image of Gore's character using little things. Bush's problem is that his character flaws come in the form of much bigger things, like his record in Texas. Bush of course also hoped to link Gore to Monica Lewinsky. Believe it or not there are some voters who actually old that against Gore.

Another thing, black and hispanic voters so far have not been overwhelmingly supportive of Gore. That could change as we near election day and they realize what is at stake for them personally.

This could go down to the bottom on the ninth with the bases loaded. Literally a few thousand votes in some key state or some tiny state like New Hampshire could decide it all.
