I disagree. 4-5 points is a meaningful lead when it's based on a consolidation of 4 major polls reflecting the opinions of more than 5000 voters. My consolidated poll is not volatile. You get 18-point swings in the Gallup because they only poll 700 voters or so over 3 days. I get movements of only a fraction of a percent daily in my consolidated poll.

Bush has taken a lead and Gore needs to do something to catch up, or it's over. A 4.9% lead (tonight's consolidated number) in popular vote translates into an easy win in the Electoral College.
