Just a quick thing: I think you meant "will be K7 based in Y2001".

The core is K7. Athlon is only the name for the high end derivative of that core, and in fact the name "Athlon" is independent of cores, and will likely apply to future cores that have nothing or little to do with AMD's 7th generation entries. Saying virtually everything will be Athlon based next year is incorrect, as Duron is not Athlon based, and vice-versa (heck, Mustang Server isn't Athlon based, though they may call it by the similarly named "Athlon Ultra" or something like that).
