Frank, I just think it's out of character to smile when talking about putting someone to death. A true leader wouldn't do that. A dictator or control freak type personality would, however. And I think Bush, but only with a retinue of good ole' boys mentality behind him, fits the control freak type categorization.

No matter what the circumstances, putting someone to death a solemn moment.

While looking up Vanity Fair the other day, I came across what appeared to be a very evenhanded article about Gore and his service to his country, depicting his agony over whether to enlist, his conflict between helping his father win re-election and his own personal hatred of the war, the exaggerations of some of the facts surrounding his year as a reporter. For this reason, the last paragraphs hit me very strongly. So make sure you read all the way through!
