Getch: In order to analyze CDMA in Korea, it is helpful to break out the real world - current spectrum - from the use of future spectrum.

This is becoming more clear as China's position seems to be emerging and the increasing cooperation seems evident between Korea and China. Again, in the real world, that is CDMA in the here and now - current spectrum in Korea and the path of 1X, HDR (1xEV).

And as far as data is concerned, there seems to be no advantage to WCDMA.

That the world is 80% WCDMA (false on its face, its zero), or that it will be 80% WCDMA in 2,3 or 4 years, is a dubious assumption at best. So the "roaming" advantage for choosing WCDMA loses its attraction.

So what is left? Europe?

Once more, we are about to see the nature of Korean Chinese cooperation - its depth, breadth and pervasiveness.

And Korea's expertise is in CDMA in current spectrum. This seems to be where China is going.

We should know better about all this within a month or so (perhaps within a week to 10 days).

Best.
