Across the Board: Polls Show Bush Sweep

Robert Murphy

Monday, Oct, 16, 2000

Several tracking polls out this weekend all agree that George W. Bush has taken a firm lead over rival Al Gore.
The Zogby poll shows Bush leading Gore 44% to 42%, with Nader and Buchanan pulling 4% and 1%, respectively. Zogby also shows that for the first time Bush is leading among Hispanics, once considered a safe group for Gore.

The Newsweek poll out today shows that among likely voters, Bush holds a 45% to 43% edge over Gore.

By a margin of almost 2 to 1(39% to 20%), the Newsweek poll found voters believing Bush won the second debate with Gore this past week.

The Time/CNN poll to be released on Monday shows Bush with a strong 48% to 43% lead over Gore.

The Gallup tracking poll shows a similar number, with Bush leading 48% to Gore's 44%
