ajb,

re: " What's up with this

Ad copy says 800 Duron

Logo says Intel Plll inside

tiny.com
"

I guess it's just an error, because one of their Pentium systems web page has "AMD Athlon" logo on it :-)

I was very surprised to see The Tiny US now has more, and a rich mix of AMD CPU based systems (desktops.)

I suspect US first tier oems are dragging their feet in adopting AMD Duron processors, and limiting AMD SKUs (which lends me to believe in Dan3's speculation). Gateway said in the past that they will increase their mix of AMD skus, but now it seems they have other plans.

These first tier oems not coming with official announcements whenever they released new Athlon skus reminds of slot-a manufacturers reluctance (July,99 - Feb'01) to provide any direct links to their slot-a mobos.

Hope Tiny AMD based skus put pressure on these guys as Tiny is aggressively expanding in the US.
