I know our generation (I'm 8 years younger than Bush so I watched by big brother and his friends) did a lot of partying early on. Grass and coke were cool. Then in the 80's it was coke and martinis and making all the money you could get without a conscience. Bush was just a product of his times and he sure did indulge, both in partying and in using his family connections to make a lot of easy money. My problem with him on this is not that he did it but that he doesn't admit it and tell the country if and why he's changed and will never do it again. I could care less if he's having sex. That doesn't affect his performance in office. What I care about is the fact that if he's a recovering alcoholic is he truly recovered? And if he's shown corruption by taking and making the easy money becuse of his name and position is he going to continue profiteering like that (for himself or his cronies) when and if he gets into the Oval Office. From his record you would have to say there's a possibility he could become one of the most corrupt presidents we've ever seen. From insider trading to taking illegal contributions and passing sweetheart laws for his contributors, that's behavior of real concern to me. I still think the GOP made a big mistake not putting McCain at the top of the ticket. At least he's a man who admits his mistakes and doesn't seem capable of repeating them. He's also so finance reform which Bush is the worst of the worst on in terms of excess and abuses.
