Credibility is an issue in this campaign. Look at the polls. Despite record peace and prosperity Bush is ahead and the momentum seems to be swinging in his favor. People are tired of the sleaze in this Administration even accounting for the good times.

The Republican Congress, not Clinton balanced the budget and the Reagan Bush legacy has fueled our prosperity. The good times are in spite of Clinton, not because of them. He gets a few points for keeping Greenspan in place, but that is all. Gore deserves no credit unless you want to credit him with most lame excuses proffered in defense of felonious fundraising practices. JLA

<Gore had influence over Clinton's libido but he did have influence and involvement in crafting the most successful economy of our times, against GOP congressional opposition I might ad.>

******************
How can you say that with a straight face? Economies don't turn on a dime. The ground work was laid well before Clinton & Co. arrived. Clinton never expected the the budget surplus that came his way, he was dumbfounded by it. If he had know the economy was going to swell the government coffers that way, he would not have pushed for that huge tax increase he gave the American public after promising a tax cut to get elected. If he had not had congressional opposition to his policies we would still be paying huge money into an ever expanding welfare system and we would not have a balanced budget. Hell, every time the Republicans tried to cut back budget increases the Dems cried a blue streak claiming the GOP was taking food from babies. Clinton & Co. (Al Gore) tried to make it sound like The GOP was reducing existing funding when in reality all they were trying to do is cut back the rate of increase.

I've asked this question many times and I'll ask you, Just what was it that Clinton did the day he took office that changed the economy? Just give me one policy that he instituted to grow the wealth of this nation.
