Clinton and other supporters wanted the provisions included in a bill passed by Congress this month that expands the number of visas for high-tech workers, but Republican leaders balked......WHY?

Prescription drugs IS a big issue. And it's Gore's issue.
Personally though this is one area where I wonder if we can afford it. Especially if the surpluses aren't as big as the projections. Making sure seniors have cheaper drugs is bascially socialized medicine. Just as making sure kids have health insurance is. It should certainly be a priority IF the surpluses hold up but I wonder. Gore will do it if we can afford it and there is a democratic congress to support him. Otherwise the GOP will stop him. Bush is parroting this so as not to lose Florida but it's hardly credible coming from a man who made health care a very low priority in Texas. He's for smaller government and far fewer benefits to the poor and middle-class. Not for any giveaways. Strictly election-year conversion. Do you guys believe Bush when he says he wants to provide insurance for kids and drugs for seniors?
