He's got exactly the same views as Bill Bennett and hasn't changed them. Gore and Clinton also lecture Hollywood. The reason that the majority of Hollywood gives so much money to the dems is that they care so much about other progressive issues like womens rights, environment, over-population, making sure there's never another witch-hunting McCarthy era, civil rights, gay rights and taking care of the poor. Though they also care a great deal about censorship many out here are very decent morally conservative people who don't push sex and violence. They are willing to abide by Lieberman's wishes so long as the public doesn't mind softer films. Sexual taboos have all been broken down over the years so there are no new frontiers there. Now Hollywood realizes it may have gone too far. The 60's and 70's sexual revolution opened up the floodgates for sexuality. The Reagan 80's (preceded by the early Clint Eastwood films) knocked down previous limitations on violence. Films began getting "too violent" only when foreign markets clamored for more Stallone-Willis-Schwartzneggar fare and soft films were hard to sell overseas. Since Hollywood gets 60% of its money from overseas this had a big effect. Why do you think those three actors salaries sky-rocketed? Because they looked good with an automatic weapon, that's why. Though the conservatives complain now, the rightwingers are and have been amongst the biggest fans of violent films, from RAMBO to Schwartzeneggar to Eastwood. And look at Charlton Heston as head of the NRA. Lots of money was being made by making more and more violent films. Ironcially again, it was actually the "soft-hearted" liberals who disdained and complained against such films. The liberals became the new content conservatives in Hollywood in the 80's and 90's. But they pushed alternative lifestyles as acceptable subject matter. Which meant more gay themes, single mothers, women breaking the molds, etc. The bottomline fact is that the entertainment business is just another business. Whatever sells they will make. Actually the movie business stressed more family films several times in the recent past and found that unfortunately most of those films don't sell very well. Not when you can sit home and watch the soft stuff on TV. Video games are another thing, more dangerous maybe in that they are such private experiences. Rap lyrics are also dangerous as kids sometimes take the anger and hate in them too seriously. Clinton, Gores and Lieberman have all been big proponents of clean up rap and rock lyrics. And Hollywood has listened. The #1 record company of rap tunes was bought then sold again (after Bob Dole criticism) by Unievrsal. The guy who sold it to them in the first place bought it back and made $600,000,000 profit on the deal. All over the world kids love rap music. I can't stand it but cannot argue that that is what sells. Anyway, it's easy to brand Hollywood or say Gore is kissing ass. In fact his team has been very tough on Hollywood and the reason they still give him money is despite this criticism. If Bush were lecturing the oil business to clean up its pollution act I'd have a lot more respect for him. But that is really a case of kissing ass. He basically lets them get away with anything even if it kills kids breathing the bad air.
