The schools are requiring the kids to do stuff for the election, like volunteer for political campaigns. I don't know how many hours, something like 10 or maybe 20.

Last year they were required to volunteer but not specificially for something political. He volunteered at the library, reshelving books.

<<That IS an awful lot of time for rowing. Swimming takes 2 1/2 early in the morning. And it has been a struggle at times. >>

At least that and some after school. Summer even more. Makes for a good aerobic workout in the days it isn't needed for the swimmer but also works out the parents in their older days. Gets the moms off the couches if the dad's are busy.

I was a good friend of the swimming coach through some pranks I pulled, because of my connections to the swimmers and because I was the onliest person to have the guts to dance with his daughter at graduation, and I will say she was lovely and nice to hold. Luigi Guido Bertanelli was a tough guy. I came back to watch a swim practice the year after I graduated. Bert told his swimmers to toss me in the POOL. I held up a nice cock pheasant I had shot and was bringing for him. Next order was anyone touching me would be drownded. I miss that guy.

SOMEONE has been killing chipmunks, and ground squirrels, and shrews, and leaving them on the front stoop. At least one a day. Not eaten, or partially eaten, but dead. I just heard *thump, thump* and SOMEONE had a dead chipmunk (I hope it's dead and not just playing possum) in the room and was thumping it around on the floor, and then just walzed off and left it. Mama Cat, whose interim name is Mystery, because we haven't figured out what her real name is yet, so it's a mystery. One of these days she'll tell us her real name.

I think she's trying to teach the kittens to hunt, but they are all snoozing, and all they did was twitch their ears a little. And the dog is snoring under the desk.

I picked it up with a paper towel and put it in the kitchen trash can. Hope it's dead.
